From Britain, a Stench of Rot

In rural Kent, the anger is palpable as the 'Blue Wall' begins to crumble…

London, Friday,

Lines of unemployed Britons wait dolefully outside food banks. These are the early fruits of Britain's famous Brexit. Other unmistakable signs are the shuttering of the famous Bettys Tearooms in York, England and roes upon roes of rotting apples in the fields of Kent. Speaking exclusively to the BuffPo, one major farmer said: "There is simply no point us picking the apples, the queues at Dover are so long they would be rotten before they reach the market." In the rural heartlands of Britain's tory party, the rumbles of discontent are unmistakable. "I voted conservative all my life!" said Sally Brown (76), "But I am so disgusted with this rotten government, I may well end up voting for Sir Keir in 2024."

The blue wall crumbles

Mrs. Brown is not alone. Ask anyone about Brexit’s alarming consequences up in the deserted high streets of Middle England and the anger is palpable. They feel betrayed - and they think that they know who to blame. Boris Johnson's so-called "fantastic deal" failed to materialize, leaving Britons without basic food, medicines and jobs. To many, it seems that the "sunlit uplands" promised by Britain's tories were a mirage.
